TOP 5
Wow this season has flown by. I wish I could say I was as impressed by this season's talent as the judges keep saying. But I'm not. Few of these contestants have done anything I'd consider great. I know everyone is so excited about how unique Adam is, but honestly I don't care about how unique a person is. I care about whether or not I like to listen to them. So yeah...I'll continue watching of course but I'm pretty much over this season.
Hm...didn't know that "Blame It" was a Jamie Foxx song...not that I like it. But yeah, I pretty much don't know anything about R&B artists. It'll be interesting/painful to see how they fill this hour with 5 contestants singing 1 song.
Kris Allen
LOL Jamie is such a vocal talent and all. Kris sounds a little too feminine right now. Maybe I don't appreciate the "sensitive guy" as much as other girls...but no. I need him to be a little more masculine while singing this cheesetastic song. I don't like this sudden upbeat portion either.
Judges say: Randy thinks it was his best performance to date. Kara is talking about technical abilities...he set the technical standard so high. Paula says he's transitioned into a sophisticated gentleman...near impeccable. Simon thought it was good but not as enthusiastic as the others...thought it was a little bit wet...safe/quite nice/incredible.
Allison Iraheta
Oh I hope she doesn't suck tonight. She looks pretty tonight. Dress is a bit ug in the bottom but her hair looks cute. She's 17. oh dear. This is such a pretty song. Makes me cry. I hope its good. Oh this is so good tonight. Yay Allison. Now America don't be deaf and please vote for her. She's so good. Perfection.
Judges say: Randy say something about octaves...that was the bomb. Kara says she's not nervous for her anymore...she's not a one trick pony...deep/emotional rendition. Paula says she had an innocent sensibility that was alluring and tender. Simon wants to know if she thinks she could win the competition at this stage. He doesn't feel that belief in her still. He tinks she may be in trouble tonight. Oh dear. Kara says he's crazy.
Matt Giraud
He looks tan today. He also is covering up his mole so that's a plus. I don't even know what Jamie is talking about. But this just makes me think of Constantine. Whenever Matt sings ballads he reminds me of Elliott Yamin...not quite as good but similar. I thought it was decent but not fantastic.
Judges say: Randy says it was a little bit pitchy, didn't quite come together. Kara says he wasn't emotionally connected to it. Paula ays he loved what he did with the song. Simon thought it was the only believable authentic song tonight....thought he was brilliant. Note Simon's completely ignoring Kara.
Danny Gokey
Hm...Danny doesn't ever really change anything. Its hard to see if he can be innovative at all. Of course he sounds good but I don't know what he'd do with his own material. I mean he's probably in the same boat as Taylor Hicks. But not a weirdo. He could bring in those middle age women fans like Michael Buble but Taylor didn't so I don't know. But he's clearly a good singer so I hope he is able to do something.
Judges say: Randy says he can sing. Kara says he had swagger tonight. Paula says it was Stellar. Simon says he had swagger and confidence...he proved a point with vocals and performance...outstanding.
Adam Lambert
Yeah I feel like I hear this song all the time. Its a good song but yeah everyone and their mom sings this song. Have those stairs been there the entier time. I haven't been paying attention to the actual performance, mostly just the vocals. But this intro lighting makes Adam's complexion look like cheese. Ok sounds like broadway show again. Ok I'll say that clearly Broadway singers can sing...but yeah that's not what I want fro y American Idol. It wasn't shrieky which was good and that one note was pretty huge. But yeah...like I said I don't hate this fool but I don't like him.
Judges: It was a little too theatrical/broadway but he is in the zone. Kara says her mouth drops open everytime he performs...confusing shocking...craziness. Paula says words cannot describe...he's Michael Phelps. Simon says he wants to win...best entrance we've had...ok so yeah they don't use those stairs normally.
Overall: Allison and Matt in danger...this would have happened regardless of performances tonight...going home...hopefully Matt. Love him but he's not good enough and Allison was so good tonight.
Don't feel like blogging tonight. Disco night is completely pointless and we all know Mat/Lil/Anoop are going home this week and next. I'm sure there will be lots of I Will Survive crap tonight, but whatever.
Ok I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't see song spoilers because I did. But I am very upset at the complete lack of Disney songs. So sad. But whatever. Let's see what these kids can do. Quentin Tarantino is a crazy but its funny that he loves this show so much. I bet he loves Adam.
Allison Iraheta
I hope she does good. Poor girl is always getting the shaft. If she goes home before Lil...oh no. Hm...its werid to have the orchestra so soft in the beginning. The beginning wasn't my favorite but I like the second half. She's a really good singer though. I see Katie Couric who totally didn't turn around once on the day my friends and i went to the TOday Show.
Judges say: Paula says she possesses the same special sauce as Adam. Simon says it was hot and spicy BBQ sauce, the girls only hope left in this competition...duh there's only Lil...lol he hasn't heard a girl sing that song so well...do you remember Antonella Barba...lol omg.
Anoop Desai
Ooh another slow ballad. Glad Quentin is telling him to rough it up because it needs not be boring. Ok boring.
Judges say: Randy thinks it was good. Kara enjoyed it.
Adam Lambert
Shout out to my sister...she knows what I'm talking about. Ok so you creep me out Adam.
Judges say: Paula says he dares to dance in the path of greatness. Simon says vocally great but like the rocky horror picture show in parts...doesnt think it'll be as popular as last weeks.
Matt Giraud
Lets hope he doesn't suck. oh yeah this is a good song. back at the piano, i like him on the piano. i like the beginning, the middle is a bit soundalike. i don't know about the falsetto note.
Judges say: Randy says he likes the beginning, but not his favorite. Kara says its the struggle between rock/soul...something...took away core melodies.
Danny Gokey
Oh Danny is going to play guitar someday. Good song choice. He reminds me of Elliott. He's good.
Judges say: Paula wasn't sure if the key should have been lowered in teh beginning...but something about the middle. Simon is disappointed that we had a traditional version of the song...he was a bit bored.
Kris Allen
I don't know this song but I've always meant to watch this movie. Never got around to it. He's doing pretty well. So Mtt is going home. Oh well.
Judges say: Randy says it never caught on for him...pitchy. Kara says it was one of his best moments.
Lil Rounds
Ok this is one of my favorite songs and....no. I just don't believe anything she sings.
Judges say: Kara says its one of the most beautiful songs...something about the road. She didn't say anything about the performance. SImon says she's getting it wrong.
Overall: Matt's going...Kris and Anoop may be in the bottom when Lil should clearly just get out.
Songs from the Year They Were Born
This is the category that makes me feel old. Oh well, I'm over it. Apparently a bunch of people were born 1985, which makes me at least a year older than most of these contestants. Let's not talk about Allison who is 7 years younger than me. :)
Danny Gokey - 1980
Ok he's 3 and a half years older than me...thanks Gokey. Oh Danny you're singing another slow song. Hm...My dog is freaking out over something, but I'm not sure what. Oh it got upbeat...this is a gross version of this song. He seriously couldn't find any other song? I mean he's a good singer but...boring.
Judges say: Randy says he didn't love the arrangement but Danny made him love it. Kara didn't like the arrangement but says he killed it at the end. Paula says wow. Simon says beginning was good, middle lazy, end good...overall great or something like that.
Kris Allen - 1985
I'm not listening since I'm ordering my Pride & Prejudice Marvel comic...oh here's one of the ones younger than me. I missed what song this is, I have no idea. this doesn't really sound all that great. It sounds likes 80s music not contemporary. I'm going back to ordering my comic.
Judges say: Kara says it was something...that lost its youth. Paula says something about being heartfelt and genuine, changed up the song. Simon says he is likeable but the performance was indulgent boring and forgettable...stupid song choice. Randy says the arrangement was indulgent, lost him.
Lil Rounds - 1984
Ok I don't care about your name. I didn't pay attention to the exact month but she's probably a couple months younger than me. she looks gross tonight...hooker much. Once again it doesn't sound that great off the bat. I just don't think she's capable of adding anything unique to a song. She just always sings a song well but without anything contemporary. Whatever.
Judges say: Paula says something about not being able to take the reigns...karaoke. Simon says we are not looking for a 2nd or 3rd rate version of Tina Turner, copycat performance...they have lost her...they all say something. Ok Lil I think its too late to be saying things like this...seriously we are so far into the competition and you haven't given 1 standout performance.
Anoop Desai - 1986
Oh I don't care about talking back. lol David Cook is also 2 years younger than me...awesome. True colors...He's always best broken down like this. But what does this mean for his potential as a recording artist. Who buys albums from guys who sit on stools. I mean unless your Josh Groban or Michael Buble who are more than just vocalists I thin it'd be a tough sell for a guy like Anoop. It was ok, nothing exciting but not horrible.
Judges say: Randy congrats UNC, thinks him pulling it back is impressive, nice vocal. Kara says he controlled the song. Paula says his choice of song was flawless...something about him being a rainbow. Simon says he's a singing yo-yo..this week was good...didn't think it was fantastic...Simon says he doesn't have to apologize for talking back to the judges.
Scott MacIntyre - 1985
Hello another person younger than me. Oh Scott please stop being boring. Omg no piano. What is this song? Well he sounds good. Yay guitar. Oh this is a terrible song. But I like him off the piano...i don't know about that high note though. Aw well it was probably one of his better performances in a long time.
Judges say: Kara says the song was difficult, he had some good moments but some off moments. Paula gives him credit for stepping away from piano. She has lipstick on her teeth....ew its so distracting. Simon says he should go back to piano, the song was horrible. Randy says something.
Allison Iraheta - 1992
Oh dear 1992. lol They thought she talked too much. Aw she was a little rocker when she was little too. I can't make you love me...a bit predicable, but still good song. I'm glad she's doing a ballad so she can show off her vocals a bit more. I love that she always changes up songs just enough to make them her own but not ruin the song. It was actually pretty restrained, but she's such a good singer. I wish America loved her more.
Judges say: Paula still hasn't fixed her teeth....she says its undeniably Allison...liked her tenderness. Simon says it was very good...says she needs to lighten up. Randy says she reminds him so much of Kelly...needs to engage the public. Kara says she is truly talented, let's go make a record.
Matt Giraud - 1985
Aw his baby picture looks like a girl. He's so cute...also younger than me. Part-time lover...normally hate Stevie Wonder songs on here but hopefully he'll make it less gross. Ok this makes me think of ...what was his name Nikko? Something like that. This is kind of boring. I like when he's playing an instrument, but that's probably because I hate R&B solo vocalists for the most part. But whatever. Doesn't really matter because this is going to be a Gokey/Lambert final and everyone else is just so there is a show.
Judges say: Randy says best vocal. Kara says unbelievable. Paula says standing O. Simon says 1 million times better than last week...well done.
Adam Lambert - 1982
Wow I feel like Adam and Danny are always first/last or next to eachother. Whatever. The last person is always the luckiest because people just saw their performance. The earlier ones are forgotten. AI is really pimping Adam...good luck making an album with him. I was about to write Judges say: but then I realized he hasn't performed yet. Second one older than me...Danny and Adam...mhm. He's really gross looking. Singing a good song...broken down again. i don't really like this chair though. I like stools or stairs better. This lighting is creeping me out. he's getting high-pitched...whatever. I would still never buy his album or listen to his song on the radio. He'll win this but he'll join the ranks of Daughtry and David Cook for people who I automatically switch stations on if they come on the radio.
Judges say: Simon gives him a standing ovation. lol laugh. lol they need to stop. but whatever. like I said, he'll win but I will never listen to his music.
Overall,
In danger, Lil & Scott.
